Monaco F1 Grand Prix Information
Held in May of each year, the Monaco Grand Prix still remains one of the most exciting spectacle on the F1 calendar.
With the narrow streets of the Principality in Monaco being closed off to the public and traffic to become the most iconic race track in the world. For a long weekend, the F1 Grand Prix circus brings a remarkable amount of people to the area.
Held around the same time as the Cannes Film Festival many of the movie celebrities are to be found enjoying the sights and sounds of the F1 weekend during this spectacular sporting occasion.
The race is organised by the prestigious Automobile Club de Monaco who ran the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929, од 1955 (the modern era) Monaco has been on the F1 calendar for every championship contested. All of the drivers cite this Grand Prix as the one they most want to win as it is considered the ultimate driving challenge.
Extremely challenging for both sets of teams and drivers, the narrow circuit through the glamorous streets of the Principality has fuelled dreams in Motorsports for decades. For some drivers like Mika Häkkinen, “Winning Monaco is better than winning the World Championship”.
For others like Nelson Piquet, Monaco is like “riding a bicycle around your living room”. And for fans, it’s quite simply a must-experience-once event.
Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo Venue Information
The circuit does not have an official car park so to park in Monte Carlo you will need to use one of the city’s public car parks, which may become very busy on race weekend. We recommend arriving early to find a parking space or using alternative transport to reach the circuit.
Trains run regularly between Nice and Monte Carlo Station, taking about 30 записник. From the station, the harbour area of the circuit is only a few minutes walk. Please be aware that the trains can be very busy on the Sunday and you may have to queue during peak times.
If you are anchored on a cruise ship around Monaco harbour, your cruise liner will probably offer a boat tender to get you to shore. Check directly with your cruise company for full details.
The nearest international airport is Nice Cote d’Azur in France, which lies 15km from the city of Monte Carlo.
If you are flying in, the best airport for Monace is in neighbouring Nice, just 30km from the principality. Nice Côte d’Azur airport (NCE) is served by both budget and major carriers with direct flights connecting more than 100 cities, mainly in Europe but also as far afield as New York.
Want to find the best prices on long-haul flights? Be sure to also check flights flying into major European hubs such as London, Paris and Amsterdam – there are plenty of onward flights daily to Nice from these hubs and it can work out cheaper than flying direct.
The same goes for short-haul flights from Europe. Flights to Nice can be expensive on Grand Prix weekend, so if you want to save a few Euros. take a look at airports further afield, such as Marseille (MRS) or Genoa in Italy (GOA).
